From my hometown of the City of West Chicago, Illinois, I captured different parts of town as a part 107 licensed drone pilot including aerial photos and videos of the historic district, downtown area, West Chicago Public Library, West Chicago High School, Reed-Keppler Park, and more.

West Chicago, located in DuPage County, has a deep history with trains and locomotives. It was first established around the time of the first railroad lines in Illinois and was known as Turner after its founder John B. Turner, president of the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad (G&CU) in 1855. It wasn’t until 1906 that the village reincorporated itself as the City of West Chicago.
Today, West Chicago has a population of over 25,000 residents and is home to Jel Sert, the Ball Horticultural Company, and DuPage airport. In addition, West Chicago is home to one of the largest and best-preserved prairies in the Midwest, the Truitt-Hoff Nature Preserve.
